A "fun-loving" clubber collapsed and died after
an allergic reaction that could have been sparked by the glue in her
hair extensions, an inquest heard. Atasha Graham, 34, had just returned home from a night out at 6.30am when she fell to the floor and stopped breathing. Southwark
coroner's court heard her partner Fenton Johnson and a friend called an
ambulance and tried to revive her while 999 operators gave instructions
over the phone.
Paramedics arrived at the scene in Lee,
south-east London, and Ms Graham was taken to University Hospital
Lewisham, but could not be saved. The court was told she had
suffered anaphylactic shock, which could have been caused by the latex
glue she used to attach extensions to her natural hair.
Pathologist Dr Michael Heath, who conducted the post mortem, said: "I have seen cases where people use solvents to apply hair pieces which can cause an anaphylactic reaction. "There are about 10 to 20 deaths in this country, many more in America. I have seen four in the last three months. Whether the latex got into her system through perspiration is a possibility. An analysis was not able to identify the specific causes of that reaction."
The inquest heard how on May 15 last year, housewife Ms Graham and Mr Johnson had a Chinese meal before going to a nightclub in Peckham, where he was DJing. She danced and drank brandy and Red Bull. "When we left the club she seemed alright. She didn't say she was unwell," Mr Johnson added. Dr Heath said there was not a "massive amount" of alcohol in her system.

ReplyDeleteThese extra lightweight rings are referred to as “micro ringletsâ€,by this Manchester salon, because they are even smaller and lighter than the standard micro ring technique. In addition, micro ringlets can be placed in areas of the hairline that were previously unreachable due to heavier, less precise attachment methods.
ReplyDeleteHave fun.
