Best African Act category at MOBO not televised - My take on it - DJ ABASS

Twitter went agog yesterday with anger in certain quarters - the African quarter! Why? The Best African act category at this years edition of the MOBO Awards (Music Of Black Origin) which was deservedly won by Fuse ODG was not included in the live broadcast.... and my people are angry!!! And i ask why? If the organisers of the MOBOS do not deem it proper to include the African category in its live broadcast, why do African acts deem it right to accept the award?

MTV base Africa recently released its list of Top 20 Greatest Nigerian Songs Of All Time. However, what it should have tagged it is MTV Base Africa's Top 20 Greatest Nigerian Songs Of The Last 9 years. The oldest song on its list is 2Face's African Queen released in 2006 and the most recent song is Surulere by Dr Sid which was released in 2013. That's a seven year window for all the songs on its list. Read more after cut

VIDEO: Ugandan kids dance group doing their thing on the streets

This video clip sure did put a smile on my face this morning. This video showing some Ugandan kids dancing on the street further strengthens my belief that aside from the geographical boundaries that  separate us in Africa, there is a common thread running through us all especially via music and dance. They could easily pass for kids from any part of black Africa as their dance style(s) mirror the current vibe all over the continent. The song titled Sitya Loss was performed by Eddy Kenzo and you can download it HERE

VIDEO: Nigeria Police officer demanding 'dollar' bribe...

Yet another video of a corrupt and armed Nigeria Police officer demanding bride from a member of the public. This particular clip appears to have been secretly recorded with a camera disguised as an e-cigarette. While i applaud the bravery of the victim in recording this, it is noteworthy that some people in the past have been caught trying to secretly recorded such corrupt officers and the outcome have been very gruesome in such cases. Thanx yet again to social media though.
